She’s incredibly lucky. The situations Shes been in thus far, and coming out of each unscathed, is a bit ridiculous.

It’s a trial at the moment… the book is so choppy. I’ve had to go back numerous times to reread, thinking I’ve forgotten or missed something. It jumps from scene to scene with very little connection.
Have they explained why the land was divided?
Anything about the war?
How would stabbing Stellan, help her claim his dagger? She’s already used it, plus it’s been stolen…

Definitely enjoying it so far!
Had to throw in the usual Romantasy tropes like , the one bed, the “who did this to you” etc. but overall I’m engaged.
I still like Lee, though I know he’s not what he seems. He’s the perfect boyfriend, but too much is leading up to revealing him and his father as something more.
It hasn’t been revealed yet, but I’ll bet Stark and his wolf are the mystery mates.

Enjoying it so far. I didn’t expect the twist with Lee. I don’t understand yet what the issue is with her wolf not wanting to bond either her, when she literally forced the bond on her unwillingly.

Definitely enjoying the book so far! I love Meryns strength, and the love she has for her sister.

I like the relationship she has with Lee, and his willingness to be there for her, and help her and her family survive.

I can see how Meryns drive to help others can, and will be a problem, she’ll get into some situation where she fights back or mouths off when she should’ve kept quiet…probably with Stark.

I’m in chapter 40, and I’m not so sure about this book. It’s interesting, but not really going anywhere. Shes supposed to be in her 30s, but she acts and sounds more like a 19 year old. Most of the book has her exploring the labyrinth, as her deal with the king of death. But again…nothing is being accomplished, it’s like the book is on the scenic route to its destination.

This will be my 3rd re-read. I read it once in the order it was written. The second time I read it chronologically, beginning with the flashbacks. I HIGHLY recommend reading it this way. It adds so much more to the story.

Not enjoying it…
There is too much talking and arguing, and hardly any storyline progression. I’m getting tired of the “banter” & “sing songy” voices. The attempts sarcastic wit come across as immature and obnoxious.

Skylar is supposed to be preparing for the journey and trial, but instead is discussing books, hanging out with family/friends and doing everything but what the book advertises.

It’s okay…
I’m seeing a lot of similarities to ToG, especially with High Fae Prince Daxton, whom smells like pine, snow, and wind…is fae…has some control over the wind…and a prince. Too many Rowan similarities from ToG.There was also a reference to 3 mountains which immediately brought to mind ACoTaR. The “like calls to like” quote which was from Shadow and Bone.
