Ugh giving up, wanted to love it, but I’ve been struggling in this book for enough days that it’s time. I skipped to the end and read the ending, and it seemed like a really cool concept and redemption story, just done in a way that was unenjoyable to me. I’m sad I didn’t like it!

I’ve decided if the next two chapters are as slow as what I’ve read so far I’m abandoning this book…. I had some expectation that this book would be amazing because of its current popularity but goodness I feel like I’m waiting and waiting for it to get interesting and it’s just like trudging through mud…

We’ve been working through this in family worship along side the companion family worship guide and we love it! Eliza is able to remember the stories and tell them back to us, and she loves the pictures too. The family worship companion book makes the stories interactive with activities and asks good, age appropriate questions! Highly recommend for anyone with 2-5 year olds!!

1/2 way through this book as a summer study with a summer group! Overall very good study, lots and lots of thoughtful application that has helped in many areas. it is very hefty and hard to get through all the content in a week, lots to fill out and write down. But overall enjoying it and seeing lots of thoughtful application and habit changes from it. Excited to do the second half!

Excited to read this book!! I hope it lives up to the expectations of the hype around it!! I put it on hold at the library about a month ago. Thankful I got a paper copy, the audiobook had over 1,000 people on the hold list!!

Really interesting read!! It has given me lots to look forward to while we’re in Utah. Since this book was written in 1909 he knew quite a few of the people he wrote about, or knew people that knew them! He himself is not a Mormon, but growing up in Utah knew them very well. The first 1/2 of the book is about faithful Mormons, the second 1/2 able Mormon apostates, so I’m excited to get to that!

Picked this up to learn about some of the history of Utah before we head out there! I’m fascinated with what I’ve read so far about the initial Mormon settlement and how their cult leader influenced where they settled, how they structured the towns, their allowed activities, where they could live within their towns, etc. excited to learn more!

Not even 5 minutes in and I am in love with this book!

So fun so far! I have to keep going back and reminding myself of where these characters were in the Iliad. It skips a decent period of time and some major scenes from the end of the Iliad to the beginning of the odyssey but so far I’ve been able to bridge some gaps with the characters telling stories from the end of the war. Hopefully the rest of the gaps get filled!
