“You are mine,” Aleron growled, his hands tightening once more.

His orbs were still bright yellow, and they finally revealed what the colour meant – joy.
He’d been playing with them, picking on his sibling, and he couldn’t help finding that… touching. He never expected such a human trait. It further solidified that, despite their monstrous outsides and behaviour, they were rather cute.

“Hey! Stop trying to get me.”
“But–”
“He’s just teasing you! If you stop trying to grab me, he’ll get bored.”
As if to demonstrate the truth of Gideon’s words, the Duskwalker turned his snake skull towards him and gave a little growl.
He laughed as he gave him the middle finger with his tongue sticking out.

I had no doubt that Nathair did this with Merikh when he was alive. What a cutie!!!!!!

Aleron growled, only for it to choke in the back of his throat when the Mavka grabbed his hand instead. Just like with Gideon’s, he clutched it in both of his own, cradling it with a gentleness that conveyed many unnameable but weighty emotions.
He was quick to release Aleron though, but his orbs were bright yellow. It was the first time he’d seen the serpent Mavka produce a positive colour.

Nathair is so cute

When Gideon peeked at him, and his green eyes connected with his pale-pink orbs, looking at him without any fear or timidness in those piercing depths, something startling dawned on him with absolute certainty.
He wouldn’t just follow him anywhere; he’d happily let Gideon escort him to his own demise.

They were no longer one being split into two. Ingram had become his own person, and in some ways, Aleron had felt left behind. He’d felt inferior.
His other half had changed so much that his inner self almost seemed unrecognisable.

“I do not know where you were before I met you, but I will not let you go,” Aleron stated, his tone holding confidence in his promise. “I will stay by your side, always.”

“I told you. The gender of my partner does not matter to me.” When Gideon’s brows narrowed in obvious disapproval, he couldn’t help the chuckle that rumbled from him. “I know what I want, little human. I feel it in here.”

“It’ll help with your anxiety regarding your need to touch me so I don’t forget. It also means I won’t lose you again.
“Thank you. Does this mean you wish to do the sex action with me as well, like that male and female?

“Why not?” Aleron grumbled. “I would like to try this with you.
What the hell did I just do?

“Let’s move on. The sun is going down and we don’t want to be out after curfew.” The sun never went down.
“Then we best leave before a Demon comes and eats us.” Demons didn’t exist here.
The laugh that burst from Gideon shook his entire being. “Good job. You’re starting to get the hang of it.”

Every minute together, Gideon could tell he was learning – a slow sponge, but one that was rather... cute at times because of it. Too cute, perhaps, but that was fine.
As time went on, Gideon found himself becoming more and more drawn to the menacing-looking creature beside him.

He snorted a silent laugh. I’m pretty, huh?
Like he couldn’t help himself, his eyes drifted to his skull. You’re not too bad, yourself.

“Have to ask, though. What’s the weather like up there?
“The weather? It is the same as before.
“Really? It’s pouring down here.
He didn’t understand what he was talking about. He even released a small whimper, unsure of why he couldn’t see them.
“I’m joking, Aleron! Remember when I told you of sarcasm? If it doesn’t make sense, then I’m probably being sarcastic.

“What do you mean ‘to teach you to fly? You didn’t know how to before?”
“I never needed to before. If I am being honest, I had seen birds do it and knew their wings were like mine. I think I may have been able to before, but I did not want to.”
“Why not?”
“Ingram.He could not fly with me. I did not wish to part from him.”
“So your love for your brother held you back and kept you on the ground?

Perhaps Aleron was too trusting and forgiving, but he wanted to see pleasantness in the world. He wanted to think it could be kind, even to a monster like him.

His creator came up beside him with his own set of wings, their bat-like tips flicking against his feathered ones.
He didn’t know how long they’d flown together, but after a long length of sadness and sorrow, it was the first time he’d... laughed. It was the first time he’d been able to forget and just enjoy his presence in this new world.

“Guess we better look out for you, then.”
“You wish to... protect me?” He said it as though he was truly perplexed.
“Well, yeah. I take care of my friends.”
“I am surprised you do not wish to harm me, but this makes me happy.”

“I’m joking, Aleron! Jeez, man. I guess I better teach you sarcasm first before anything else. I use sarcasm as a way to play and joke around with people, but I’m pretty straight forward with it and it’s obvious.”
“You were playing with me?”

“I thought you were smart, so how can you not know this?”
“Ooft. What a way to take back a compliment. That stings, Aleron. I was being so nice to you.”
His wings drooped suddenly, as a coldness pierced his gut. His orbs turned a stark white, and he dipped his head in a submissive stance.
“I am sorry. I did not mean to cause you to sting.”
I made a mistake.

“So you’re the final grim reapers. I’m watching you, Duskwalker.”
“I am watching you as well, human.” “Not what I meant,” Gideon let out a laugh that sounded rather... empty. “You’re actually pretty funny. I can tell you aren’t very smart, but I guess that makes you charming in your own way.”
Until now, Aleron didn’t know it was possible to be both offended and complimented at the same time.

He didn’t know what he desired in a bride. He would like them to be kind to him, warm towards him. I would like them to cuddle with me and enjoy being within my wings. He wanted them to... be at ease and find comfort within his embrace.
He said he felt better when I hid him from the world.
Just remembering that had his wings flapping against his back in joy.

He let me hold him. Hehe! Bright yellow filled his vision as he swayed his head, rather pleased about all this. He even let me put my wings around him. And he hadn’t seemed to mind Aleron staring at him the entire time they had been encased in the feathery blanket. I made a friend here.
One that wants me to join him on his adventure.

Before he could get his bearings, Aleron shoved his hand near his face. Without needing to think about it, although grumbling in annoyance, Gideon grabbed it and let Aleron help him to his feet. His legs kicked before he actually touched the ground; he'd been tossed like a rag doll.

"I didn't mean for you to shake my hand, I'm trying to help you to your feet so we can move on together."
"Oh," Aleron rasped, his orbs turning reddish pink
"Hold it, and I'll pull you up?"
Aleron grabbed his hand, and Gideon pulled... and pulled, to no avail.
"You're supposed to help," Gideon said with a grunt.
He went flying backwards when Aleron stood completely on his own. He fell to his arse with an oomph.

“Weldir helped me. He made sure I was not completely alone and has often been by my side. Yet, that did not stop my fear for Ingram. Only now... has it settled.”
Gideon’s brows creased. “Because of Emerie?”
“I am happy he is not alone, even if it hurts that I cannot go to him.” Aleron’s inhuman, deep baritone darkened with sorrow. “So do not cry. They are safe together.”

“But you are not upset because of me. What is causing you to cry then, little human?”

"Am I causing you to be afraid?" Aleron asked quietly, as though truly concerned by that possibility.
"What? Why would I be afraid?"
"I cannot smell anything, not even your scent, but you are shaking. I did not mean to make you uncomfortable."
"No, this isn't because of you."

The initial introduction to them all meant little to Aleron, so long as Gideon retained everything else – which was much more important. That was all this human needed, because Aleron understood it would be what kept him as his companion.
Without it, he’d be alone in this world again.
I must not let him forget... me.

“Guess it’s just us now,” Gideon grumbled with a shrug, catching his attention instead.
“Us?” he asked, leaping back and tucking his chest down, his tail feathers flaring wide.
He said us! That meant he didn’t have to be alone. He’d found a companion here after all, and it was the human who stated it!

His heart gouged in loss, in heartache, as his sight turned blue with sorrow. A whine broke from his chest. Come back. He didn’t want to be... abandoned again.
