Bernard Corwin is on page 147 of 336 of Shopping, Seduction & Mr. Selfridge
As others have noted, this book is dry. It may be what the creators of the TV show licensed to use as the factual foundation, but it's a pretty stiff history.

Some of these pieces are better than others, but it's cool to see different perspectives on how different writers approach mystery structure.

Bernard Corwin is on page 32 of 270 of As I Lay Dying
I read this last year, giving it a re-read. As I'm currently writing articles and zines about plot structure, I need to test my personal thesis against books known for not having traditional structures, or any structure at all. Why I put myself through this, I don't know.

Bernard Corwin is on page 19 of 184 of Amusing Ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the Age of Show Business
So, this book was originally published in 1985. This is the 20th anniversary edition, published in 2005. I'm reading in in 2026, 41 years after its original publication, 21 years after the update. All I'm thinking is, if this was a dire warning, we failed to heed it and are totally screwed. He's talking about metaphor, epistomoly, the influence of form, and I'm thinking "meme." Totally screwed.
