Charming story so far. Reminiscent of It’s a Wonderful Life.

It felt like there was a lot more going on in previous books. It’s hard to picture anything but people sitting in chairs talking.

This book delves greatly into grey areas of morality and Machiavellian truth.

Dune: Heartfelt emotional moments buried in philosophical jargon.

Starts feeling like Game of Thrones with much politicking.

Lots of exposition that feels unnecessary. Reached the halfway point and finally there is some progression in the plot.

Frank Herbert concocts the most creative ways of assassination.

Finished reading: The Beast in the Cave and Beyond the Wall of Sleep

I did not finish reading Tress and the Emerald Sea a little while ago, so I am returning to it now, but starting over from the beginning.

It’s a charming tale narrated by the charismatic Hoid. Its humorous and playful tone is greatly attractive.

Just read “Azathoth,” a short journal entry written by Lovecraft and published post-mortem.

A mystic fragment of Lovecraft’s supreme deity, with glimpses into a vibrant dreamscape.

Taking a break from the formal, complex grammar of the early 20th century literature and listening to Ready Player One. A simpler, lighter syntax can be quite enjoyable after reading a bunch of classics.

Finished reading At the Mountains of Madness… which includes some of the grandest and most detailed descriptions of Lovecraft’s mythos. I can’t say that I enjoyed this story however. At least five of the central chapters go on and on in languid, superfluous language that just comes across as dry and dull. Some of the protagonist’s descriptions are simply boring and repetitive.

Now reading: In the Mountains of Madness (1931), in which Lovecraft’s descriptions of amorphous, unidentifiable creatures gives the reader an image of curiously ancient beings beyond Precambrian understanding.

First story: The Alchemist (1908) is one of H.P. Lovecraft’s earliest stories. A short but memorable story about a curse on a family’s line of men. Haunting and mysterious.
