This isn’t gonna end well…

Mickey is THE WORST and Arlo is an unethical spoiled bitch.

Good so far. Arlo is annoying, constantly saying Daddy instead of dad. Mickey is giving what’s her name from Weapons.

He’s nuts.

So I’m detecting a recurring theme of violence enacted upon women for the amusement and benefit of men. The daughter being forced into prostitution to account for her alcoholic father’s refusal to keep a job, the sister marrying a guy she doesn’t love to bail out her brother, and now a female horse beaten to death by a crowd of drunken men. Brutal stuff.

This is an all timer. A must read for young women everywhere, forever timely, about the dangers of assuming that good looks can be used as a weapon to get your way. A cautionary tale about the dangers of clout chasing, wealth worshipping, and the fallacy of thinking that a man is a plan. Beautifully written, great characters, and a devastatingly inevitable conclusion. This is now one of my all time favorite books!
