I just don't find it realistic that she would be the ONLY non-vampire to enter the competition EVER. The explanation and buildup felt lazy and unconvincing. I don't find it convincing that he would lie to his biological daughter her whole life telling her she's a human and adopted, then just send her in the competition. i suppose he's an abuser and it's his way of keeping her dependent on him.
