still no war dammit !!!!

I’ve been recommended Erik Larson books before, so when I found this one in our neighborhood’s street library, I knew I had to snag it. It is phenomenal so far. Larson does such a good job of creating narrative in what could otherwise feel like a history textbook. It’s also so interesting to hear about the rise of the Nazi Party in 1933, a period less talked about.

loving it so far!!

I’ve just finished the first novella, Bonjour Tristesse. While it had all the makings of a good book- a summer in Southern France, a torrid affair, young long, and lots of boozing- there just seemed to be something missing. As for Sagan being considered “the French Fitzgerald “, I’ll need some more convincing evidence.

Just about half way done and WOW!! It takes such literary prowess to keep an audience engaged over 1200 pages, especially when the subject matter is so complicated and, at times, tedious. Blackthorne is hatamoto and the war has yet to begin! Cant wait to see how this progresses
