I think I'll need to let this one simmer when I'm done and revisit it down the line. Generally enjoyable, but some parts feel convoluted and confusing -- I guess that's par for the course with Kafka. The intro by the editor poses "authority" as a consistent theme throughout the stories, primarily through dichotomies of adult/child, employer/employee, human/vermin, etc., so that's coloring my reading.
