five pages in i knew this was a five star book

Finished the first book. Kinda disappointing. (A "college horror" novel is a fun idea, I guess... But this one had too much "college" and not enough "horror.") Started book two today... And it's probably gonna be better. We'll see...

I don't know how I'll be able to finish this book without it becoming a favorite. I mean, something absolutely terrible would have to happen for it not to be one of the most profound, disturbing, entertaining, and intellectually satisfying things I've ever encountered. There's just so much STUFF in it... Whole worlds in page-sized paragraphs... A short story in a footnote... Just incredible.

Lemme qualify that last statement: It's terrific fun, with many many pages of extremely disturbing, perhaps nightmare-inducing shit.

This one is taking forever, and I mean that in the best way possible. It's terrific fun, and I don't wanna miss any piece of it. Much funnier than I expected (and I figured it would be pretty funny) and stranger, too... I didn't realize the damn thing was, in its own bizarre way, a sci-fi novel.
