I'm enjoying the book so far but I cannot get over the fact that I've yet to read/watch something set in Pompei without the presence of Plinius the elder. This man has been the busiest ghost of all Pompei. In countless novels and stories this man has met every traveler,dog and whore who ever lived in the town.
I get it, he's an important historical figure, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't tired of seeing him.
