Page 92 is incredibly sad but true. I listened to 102 year old Holocaust survivor Joseph Alexander speak at USF. He survived 12 camps, including Auschwitz. He also came face to face with Josef Mengele, “Angel of Death.” His entire immediate family died. It’s very important that books like this educate and share to younger generations the reality of Nazi ideology and lack of human sympathy.

It is quite interesting to read about the newly freed prisoners on page 87. When I studied in Florence, Italy, I often thought about how rare the time is that I live in. I would not have been able to jump from country to the next in those times, or any time before that. Jumping from present day Italy to Sibenik, Croatia (then-Fascist Italy), or to Spain and the Netherlands. I am incredibly thankful to be alive today.

Amazing so far. Really shows the horrors as a concentration camp prisoner but shows the glimmers of hope and love that make life worth it from his point of view
