I was literally JUST thinking I wanted to see more of the other Grey Wardens and then we got a whole chapter on them! It was so sweet and really helped establish how much Maric has grown, showing parallels between him and his mother. (ALSO THE PARALLELS BETWEEN DUNCAN AND MARIC??? SO interesting).

Maric’s progression is so interesting and tragic. Chapter 4 is such a good deep dive into his character at this point in his life. It made me sick to my stomach at parts (in a good way). I wanna take him away from this place :( he’s so unwell and in desperate need of a hug and a therapist.

I love Fiona so much and I hope she finds that cat again.

Seeing Duncan like this feels like when you’re a kid and you realize your teachers are people who have lives and a past outside of school.

Also the Loghain stuff was so good:(( I love him so much:( he is so incredibly unwell.

Chapter seven was bad. So much telling and hardly any showing. Rowan is hardly a character (cause of sexism) but she has SO much potential. We’re starting to see more of her in chapter 8 at least so hopefully she is actually allowed to do stuff now. She’s so cool from what we do see, it’s just so far and few between compared to Maric and Loghain

CHAPTER SIX IS SOME OF THE BEST SHIT I’VE EVER READ! One second, Meghren is so dumb and funny and then the next I’m TERRIFIED AND GASPING! Severan is also so interesting??? Such good character establishment in such a short time. The lore of Orlais is wild and weird. I’m AHHHHHHHHHH!

They’re both so tragic :(( Rowan showed up and she seems like she’s also going to be tragic. ALSO SHALE IS HERE??? AND THEYRE TRAGIC TOO

It’s wild how similar Alistair and Maric are. Their feelings of inadequacy related to being king, fear of leading, feeling laughed at, idolizations of their mentors (Duncan and Maric’s mother), their survivors guilt and even the way they talk about/phrase these things are such parallels of each other.
