Very good book, especially to be fiction.

I like the comparisons that are being made, there’s a good balance between the analysis of all the key actors: the USSR, The US, and Cuba. I wish the smaller actors, like Egypt, weren’t underplayed in their roles—they got around 2 sentences, which referenced their secondary role, after Cuba, to the Soviets. I’m unsure whether I like the “bundling” of information; he hyper-fixates on certain topics.

The writing style is beyond subpar, but the substance is there—the topic itself is very interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever heard, read, or otherwise observed this specific approach; it’s unique. The author, Serhii Plokhy is straightforward with his bias, which is appreciated.

I literally want to read every book.
