Really just started it a week ago but it definitely isn’t grabbing me like the first one so far.

I had to look a few times to be sure this wasn’t read by Kathy Bates because the narrator can sound so much like her.

Every reference to incryptid I’m grinning like a moron.

I loved the first one, and so far this one is looking to be as entertaining and informative(?) lol
Plus bonus of Wil Wheaton narrating.

This was my first series by this author and my only one I didn’t read all in one never-ending line. These last two just confirm WHY over and over, but it is scratching the completion itch?

Omg the perspective switch just had me momentarily shocked at the swap of Evie and Elsie, but then I realized it was Artie and not Sarah talking.

Listening to audiobook and so far it’s nowhere even close to Sky in the Deep. That was a 5 star read for me — I was drawn in quickly and fully invested in the characters. Right now I could care less about any of them. It’s not even and audio versus reading issue because I listened to the audio of Sky in the Deep as a reread. Narration is good though. I’ll keep listening.

The looping in of not only his works, but N0S4A2 is great. Weird thing to give me warm fuzzies but I just love that they referenced each other’s works.

Now Bess is pointing out mysterious or fishy things and Nancy is just like making excuses to dismiss it. Is this bizarro Nancy Drew where Bess is the actual teen sleuth?

They’ve turned Nancy into someone she’s not. Like...of all the years and all the authors who’ve been Carolyn Keene, I think these are the worst. Before if there’d been a potential clue she wouldn’t have whined about George picking it up or wanting to look into it. I get they’ve made them “younger” but camman.

Handheld computer?? Like a tablet? I remember no point in time when tablets were called handheld computers. The ones from the 80s/90s held up way better. This is just from 2004!

So they retconned Nancy knowing how to pick locks and now Bess is the lock pick expert?? This is all topsy turvey.

Got it back again and almost finished it on the drive to NC. More into it this time now that I’ve gotten further along and more familiar with the switch from the first books’ MCs.

It’s early yet, but I feel like it’s safe to say she did it again. Got distracted from making pancakes this morning when I first started listening.

My current soundtrack for unpacking from the move. Definitely a good choice.

Good plan picking this up instead of more books I’m iffy about enjoying. Don’t want to get in another rut and this is as hard to put down as the first.
