Might be my favorite one yet

My first Joe Hill! (I havn't even read anything from his dad yet, shocking I know) I really like the story so far and his writing style is really enjoyable. (this is the highest rated book on my physical tbr that's not in a series and I can already see why). but DAYUM it's 881 pages!? (might as well be a series...)

I chose this book from my Physical TBR because it was the lowest rated (2.63) out of all the ones I own. Also it's very short, so I figured why not! So far it's not terrible, but the style of writing is odd and hard to follow at times. Kind of feels like the author is being a bit too extra but there's some really pretty quotes in here. Once the story picked up with more dialogue it's balanced out.

I have never felt so dumb while still having a good time

I really love the stuck somewhere survival trope - especially when the person is alone, and this is checking that box so well! Bonus points for being vaguely creepy. I think I’m at the calm before the storm…. Shit is about to go down I can feel it.

Spelunking always scares me, the idea of squeezing into tight crevices deep underground (and also the whole cave diving gone wrong videos you see online) is just one of my nightmares. Glad it’s optional.

So already creepy right off the bat! 🦇 (No pun intended… really there’s been no bats in this cave yet) but dead bodies? Check!

Such whimsy! Even in intense moments. I don’t want this series to end. 😩
