CGW argues that the hope and faith in the growth and prosperity of the Black people in the United States is lacking if not nonexistent. From the ‘talented 1/10’ to preachers and laborers he expounds on the intra-racial strife that persist from slavery to present day at varying levels of intensity. He argues the retention of culture and identity is the important work, the education need is that of developing us.

The transition from academic readership to narrative fiction, fiction that has since faded from contemporary to historical, leaves my mind searching for greater meaning in the slower paced depictions of life and character. The unfortunate main character is one of such conflicting and dangerous motivations that diving any further into his mind would be a journey to a dark center, shaped by a time I haven’t lived.
