reading old(er) literature makes me realize how much i hate modern books.

i’m rereading this monstrosity so i can properly write an actual review about it as it’s been a while

i’m gorging myself on the end of this novel and then ordering thai food and playing old wii games for the rest of the night.

what a masterfully written character study into the psyche of a repugnant, foul predator. vladimir is swiftly being promoted to the top of my literary idols.

We are not sex fiends! We do not rape as good soldiers do. We are un-happy, mild, dog-eyed gentlemen, sufficiently well integrated to control our urge in the presence of adults, but ready to give years and years of life for one chance to touch a nymphet. Emphatically, no killers are we. Poets never kill.

vladimir is a fucking genius at portraying HH as such a repugnant, foul man. it’s blowing my fucking mind. the sheer amount of effort HH goes into to convince you, the reader, that he is in the right, that he is a VICTIM even, is just absolutely insane.

wonderful writing style. it is so so difficult for me to find authors who’s voices i do not merely tolerate or even hate. i neither tolerate nor hate vladimir’s. i enjoy it.
