I'm having such a hard time with this. First I thought it's because I don't recall anything other than the broad strokes of what went down in The Space Between Worlds, and couldn't find a decent recap. Other reviewers here and on reddit assured me that the events and characters in the earlier book don't really impact this one, but I'm finding that to be untrue. Plus I just don't LIKE Scales!

The whole Rocky story is too sad.

It's set in Boston? Nobody told me. I have a special weakness for books (and movies and shows) set there. Well, I'll concede it's the Greater Boston Area, Cambridge to be precise. But here we are, on the red line, at all my favourite squares! And even at the Harvard museum of natural history visiting the glass flowers 🌹

Just when I thought it wasn't possible to hate Gilchrist any more strongly... I haven't wanted to bodily harm a fictional character this much in ages!
