This felt less like a story and more like reading a long letter by vampire woman I don’t know.
There’s very little character work, and without that, the emotions don’t land. I kept asking myself why I should care about these people, or this situation, and the book never really answered that.
I stopped reading partway through. It just didn’t justify the time it was asking for.
