Enjoying this book. Read about the origin of zombie movies today and the way they were used as propaganda when American soldiers were in Haiti.

I have decided I would most likely prefer to see a film made of the life of this author, than read through his book. The man Paschal Beverly Randolph turns out to be one of those fascinating characters. His book on the other hand is neither a turn on nor particularly elucidative to the unintiated.

32 pages in and so far I have been instructed to stare at a dot for months. Yes, darling, patience is a virtue (especially if you read this like a Chinese fortune).

I read the entire book of Pantagruel and decided that for now this is enough. I will read the other 4 books as I feel inclined. The chapters are short but this compilation is long. What I enjoyed most were the Prognostications that followed the Pantagruel book. Here the wit of Rabelais shines in a way that is accessible to the modern reader.

It's not everyday I pick up a book where I've met the author and then open the acknowledgement section and find two of my friends named. It was a good augury for this book which is a rapid and interesting read.
