The plot is okay. Not as compelling as the other books I read from her. But there are just too many comma splices to ignore! My copy editor eyes are burning.

Okay, this should have come with a trigger warning. And I mean HEAVY trigger warning.

Rape. Sexual violence. Suicide.

The first chapter traumatized but hooked me. So far, a good read. But DAMN.

I read this book a few years ago, and it really changed the way I approached life. Recently, the pandemic has put a toll on my mental health, and I found myself giving a lot of f*cks to things that are not f*ck-worthy. This book definitely needs a yearly re-read <3

I already read this years ago, but I'm re-reading it because I finally have the physical book. Platinum edition and crazily good as new despite being second-hand 😍

This is so hard to read. It's like Meyer's attempt to rationalize Edward's creepy/abusive actions in the first movie. But it's interesting how his mind works. His thoughts are so excruciating to read, like, duuuude, stop overthinking everything! What I find entertaining, though, are the parts where Edward "eavesdrops" other people's thoughts. So that's that. I really slow reading progress for me.

Kristenne is reading Looking for Alaska
I read this 5 years ago during a very dark time in my life. I loved the book so much that it prompted me to use one of its quotes as my recovery tattoo. For years, I put off reading the book again because I was honestly afraid I wouldn't like it as much as when I first read it. Now I challenged myself to read the book again, finally. And I'm not surprised that I love it all the more now that I'm in a better place.

This book is excruciatingly boring. But not as bad as to lead me to abandon this book cold-turkey.

“Exactly. How can you know it makes you happy if you’ve never experienced it?”
“There are different kinds of happy,” she said. “Some kinds don’t need any proof.”
