It’s getting to the point I hate in book series. It starts getting really good and you know there’s not enough pages for a conclusion, the first book ends up just feeling like a giant intro to the next book:/

This books is the tits. Very true to the historical side and very compelling for the fictional side. I haven’t had to suspend belief for anything to make sense an I often question what is fiction in the first place with how naturally the story is woven in

OH YEAH BABY, anything is better than fever house. gates of fire is a historical fiction recounting the last survivor of the battle of Thermopylae to king xerxes and his court of historians. It feels like reading cerce or song of Achilles by Madeline miller and I’m loving it!

I’m just trying to get through to the end at this point, I’m not super interested in the story or how often the point of view changes (,:

Too much is happening! It keeps jumping perspectives and you’re thrown straight into the deep end, i would prefer slow burn for the setup instead of this

How did hutch and Tim just KNOW the hand is haunted? There was no theory or hypothesis. They just were like “obviously cursed hand bro”

I am not looking forward to the cliffhanger this book is going to give me, I need to read so many other books prior to getting to the next in the series

I’m hooked, this scratches my gamer brain so good. It’s like I’m reading a YouTube play through of a game who’s super in character. I can tell why there’s like 5 books in this series, I’m about half way through this book and they’re just getting to floor 2/18. Curse you Matt dinniman!

The next chapter “the amplifiers” was extremely enlightening, I’d prefer less reference to January 6th insurrection and Russian propaganda (while I know they’re both relevant and worth mentioning) and more general examples outside of the politics (although that’s where disinformation is most relevant) this chapter deep dives into news media from both sides and the role social media plays in misinformation.

I’m not expert on political agendas by any means, This book does lean heavily against trump and Russia (understandably so) but I wish there was more focus on other examples in the us. The amplifiers chapter is a huge take away so far on medias grip and control over the masses and does a very good job of calling out news outlets from both sides of the isle and offering ways to “reinvent” ways to fix media.

This book so far has been pretty simple to understand, it dives into what a truth killer is and what it entails as well as the history and start of denialism referencing Tobacco CEOs and how denialism works and looks in action. The book heavily references and leans on examples via Putin and russias involvement and use use of denialism as well as trump and the MAGA movement. Very informational so far and will update.

I knew that princess donut was the goat!

Super cool premise - running man type competition but with 15million earthlings being watched by aliens species while they dungeon crawl to their freedom!

I had 4 people ask how this book was when I posted it so I skipped it to the top of my read list.
So far pretty insane premise! I’m hooked and there’s cat named donut. I predict this cat will be very important

I need this old lady to croak asap!
