Getting there now. They key to reading this is not to get stuck on the potential formality of astronaut selection and training. This is a story about growing up, achieving/realising your dreams, forming relationships and having to live with your choices.

It's little details like "the light from buzzing fluorescent lamps..." that take me out of this story. Otherwise, still well written

OK - so there are some plot holes. I am concerned about a crew thatbhave spent 6 years in training, but no one seems tonhave thought it worth training the backup crew to the same level so they're...unfamiliar with the ship, the crew and its routines. But it is still very readable.

Very readable. I'm enjoying it so far; meeting the characters and understanding their hopes, dreams, fears and aspirations. And the bitter sweet reality of achieving them.

Not quite sure yet what the plot is. Maybe there isn't one?

It's not bad (yet) though. But i have a vague feeling that this is going to be like A Long Way To A Small Angry Planet...but with less finesse.

T. Kingfisher never fails to impress me. Her books are such an easy read, yet so "full" with all the little details required for a rich world of complex characters. And not a teenager amongst them! 😆

I'm not enthralled. But I'm also not despising it. It's just sort of m'eh!

Needed something light hearted to breakup the depressing monotony of "The Things We Learn When We're Dead"

This is a depressing book...but in an oddly "flat" way. I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep reading it. I had initially thought it might be humorous. I suspect it's aiming at humour at times, but it's so 2-dimensional it's impossible to tell.

I won't lie, I'm beginning to dislike the name "Lorna". Why does it have to be repeated so constantly!? I get it, the FMC is called Lorna and she is "young". Could have reduced this book by about 50 pages by just editing out those two words!
