RIP to all of the oarsmen in the 16th century; no telling how many skeletons are sitting at bottom of Mediterranean right now.

Christians better figure something out quick because Suleiman is whooping ass

The scale of these navy fleets between Charles and Suleiman are ridiculous. Losing 140 ships and 8 thousand men like it’s nothing. Suleiman and Hayreddin are dominating the holy war so far

Great start so far. Already introduced some interesting characters and set the stage for the Islam vs Christianity battle for the Mediterranean. Love Roger’s writing style in this one - feels like game of thrones the way he’s bouncing around journeys for each character.

The battle at Chaul was a great perspective of the Portuguese bravery and arrogance. Sure they lost the battle, but they refused to sink the Muslim ships without honor and booty (even though they could’ve won easily). Pretty badass (and foolish) way to lose

Great so far. Amazing how persistent the Portuguese were in traveling to India and finding the Christian king.
