Omg I spoke too soon. This is getting GOOD and SCARY!

I love the descriptions, very detailed and gorey. But there are too many dream sequences! Tell me what’s actually happening in the story!

Little jump scares have been nice. The pacing is realistic but… kind of boring. I have 1/3rd left, I hope it picks up and scares the crap outta me.

The opening sequence was great, really pulled me in. I am creeped out already. Hoping to see a side of the main character that isn’t so jaded.

Lowkey want to hurry up & finish this because I have other books to read… like I’m still enjoying it but c’mon already.

Omg I am so in love with this book!! Literally scared me into sleeping with the lights on lmao. The setting is beautiful and haunting, the characters are interesting and believable, the scares are scary and I’ve nauseous but excited. Can’t put it down!

Still loving this! There’s been 2 stories at least of inanimate machinery coming to life w/ murderous rage, must have been inspiration for Christine. Finally got a great ghost story in Sometimes They Come Back. Hoping for more ghosts & paranormal stories.

Lots of slimy, murderous creatures in this section. Gray Matter ended on an interesting note that I haven’t seen in the other stories. Why are all of the MMCs so misogynistic?

Truly creepy and awesome. These descriptions are SO good, I can see every terrible thing in my mind like a movie.

I’m so glad the psychiatrist realized she had made some mistakes! Some of these sessions are such hard reads while others are so insight. I like these short essays at the end. The topics seem random but they really do all center on self improvement and acceptance.

Confused on why Night Surf ended that way. I guess it was just a snippet in time.

Noodle process has finally started. Learned more about the bots & postwar SF. Cars are sentient. Weed vapes are still around but YouTube is outdated. Still feels like 2026 but with robots. Why has Staybehind decided to help?

Graveyard Shift. Woo boy! Creepy, gross, funny, sinister. Loved it. Although I’m not sure why Hall did that? Sure Warwick sucked but I don’t think he deserved that? Did he think he would get away with it? How many times has this happened before?

Jerusalem’s Lot was awesome. Very creepy and sick. The twist ending made me laugh though lol. I hope there are not too many time pieces because the vocabulary is difficult for me to understand.

Enjoying reading about their backgrounds and more info about the war. I like this lil robot family and am rooting for them.

Okay I’m liking it now. Sweetie’s half human/half robot insecurities are wholesome and an interesting take on negative body image. These bots are getting really innovative with the toilet power line through the sewer. I’m still having a hard time visualizing these characters tho.

I’m interested. But this world is not as technologically advanced as I had thought it would be in 2064. It does read like a millennial trying to imagine a futuristic society but without much innovation. Like they still have group chats and delivery apps. Idk how to explain it. Just doesn’t feel futuristic enough yet. CA is its own country? Why is his name Staybehind?

Love the intro about mixed Americans 🥺💜 we are liminal and welcome. Very excited to see where this goes but I am so nervous about the Catholic side.

Like seeing the psychiatrist’s explanations for Seheek’s thoughts and behaviors. I hope it is for dramatic flare though because in real life, the dr should be helping the patient get to these answers, not just give them away. I can relate to Seheek on some points (lifelong depression, worrying what others think, etc) but not others (attention seeking). Lots of convoluted feelings from her.

Eh. Cringey and annoying. Still don’t have a reason to really like these characters. Gabriella is obnoxious, Aria is a people pleaser who can’t think for herself, Justin is a scumbag and Tobias is an angry creep.
