Mary Karr is so intelligent and thoughtful it absolutely blows me away. Alongside her deep knowledge of memoir is this witty sarcastic voice that just grows more individualized with each page. Although this book can be challenging it’s so worth it, such a good pick up.

This woman is hilarious “I just put a teaspoon of catsuit in your sandwich but you didn’t notice it at all. To my mind a small bit of cat shit equals a car shit sandwich unless I know where the cat shit is and can eat around it,”

In the world today there has been a lot of discourse over simplifying leaving negative relationships. As many of us are told “If it isn’t working just cut ties and move on” what I love about this book is it is just as much for those who have decided they are ready to cut those ties as those who aren’t ready to do so. Instead of casting shame this book does a really good job at casting a light.
