They call them Classics for a reason. Great characters in Napoleonic era with dynamic characters embedded in a very rigid Class system. Very interesting and connected sub-plots. The prose used to describe both things and emotions is just wonderful. This is a formidable book (700+ pages) but thoroughly enjoying it so far.
