Just finished The Key. What a ride!

Although, this is my first step into Japanese literature, I had no trouble getting a firm grasp on traditional vales of 1950s Japan, like feminine modesty and the pride as a result, because those are the same values of present conservative India.
However, what I'm not prepared of are the psychological warfare, mind games, and manipulation.
I really don't know how I feel about the husband.

The narrative illustration between self-destruction and rebellion is done so well. Same with her outlook on sex and relationship.

Inspiring stuff!

Coming from a dysfunctional family, Lisa's upbringing is too relatable.

I was always interested in the lives of pornstars, because it must be so weird to have that profession and live in a society that is simultaneously shameful and obsessed with sex. So, I'm already in love just by the existence of this book. And it starts with a bang. Lisa Ann's retirement.

On a side note, the book design is great.

Using famous rap lines as chapter titles is a brilliant idea, because hip-hop is big part of Romesh's life but also makes everything feel cohesive.

I'm at chapter 5, and it's crazy how delusional and predatory Joe is, right from the beginning. The scary thing is, nothing's off-limits for him, To get the girl he wants, he justifies invasion of privacy, breaking in, lying and manipulation.
