It's not living up to the reviews. The comparison to 'The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe' was compelling, but the two are not remotely similar so far.
The writing is irritating: "The room was dark, save for a set of bright lights scorching through the window like lasers."
It's unnecessary to tell us it's dark, we know it's night. And it's like saying "The room was cold, except for the furnace burning at 2000°F"
