Tone set! Lovely acknowledgements (beautiful idea). The foreword was useful context. Let’s get it.

Love the small-town vibe. The vocab is delightful. Love a novella. Some great descriptions already. Santiago is a lovely man. Less interested in the boy so far. Just regular guys.

Love the Isidore chapters so far! Really sad one here (they be making me feel empathy). Deckard proving himself once more. Nice chapter of the Empathy Test (interesting concept). Knowing the film makes me very scared for John…

Nice workplace structure going on. Not much blowing my mind in these chapters (3-4). Just more development in every capacity. Liking Deckard’s attitude and quips a lot. “This moment, more than any other that he could remember, pleased him.”

Fabulous world-building already! Loved John Isodore’s intro chapter (apart from the doolally Mercer description). Really beautiful descriptions of silence + depression. Much need backstory. Love the mood organs. Already tackling so many issues like depression, empathy, and status! Looking forward to it.
