Sean Kim is starting One Art: Letters of Elizabeth Bishop
In One Art, Elizabeth Bishop at first seems to frame loss as a learnable, masterable, disciplined, and cultivated school, but in fact loss in many ways is uncontrollable (or at least there's a limit to control), and so nothing that can't be controlled can be mastered. It's also interesting to see the author seems to build an argument with evidence building up to support a claim that exists to be undermined.

Sean Kim is starting Ozymandias
In Ozymandians, Percy Byssch exposes the idiocrasy of delusions of grandeur by juxtoposing the barren setting with the grandeous philosophy of the king and through imagery of abandonment and irrelevance.

One hot take I have about the poem is that the second coming, the darkness of the rough beast that seems like a nightmare and a hell-bent violent version of Christ, I think such darkness is actually there to save and benefit society. When there's chaos and structures in society have collapsed, sometimes a firm, strong, and even morally wrong but ethically strong force is needed to right the ship and improve the bed.

Sean Kim is starting Digging
It was a good way to communicate the point that while your family may have been great and had generational success, every new generation has to start anew with their own path and from ground one. The hard work of your family may inspire you and get you to the starting point, but you yourself must turn that squat pen into a spade/shovel and dig to success.
