listening to this book while driving through four hours of Florida backwoods was soooo fun it made my drive so much more bearable and I LOVED all the mentions of Floridian towns like I was trying to figure out where punta rasa would be lol

omg I was so happy for him getting a horse and then he came back to this.. i really love the description and how u can feel the fight for survival in this time period. ppl really had so many skills to fend for themselves and relied on luck to get them by a lot too

so far its good i love the description in chapter 2 bc i feel like i can see tobias and how like the desparation and lack of everything leads the family to make the decisions they do. it also is making me disappointed i cant garden like growing food is a fundamentally human thing i need to learn

ok so our fourth grade teacher read us this book and i decided to reread it bc i remember we were all OBSESSED with it and first of all, how on earth were we smart enough for this as 8 yr olds the writing is pretty adult

it’s insane to think of what it’d be like to be the last person on earth like

it’s interesting to see how lacking certain life experiences can alter someone’s humanity, like the main character not knowing children and how she feels inhuman about her detachment

omg shes smart

the book hasn’t picked up yet but it’s kinda cool bc you can understand what a person or their mind develops without tools like writing and math. the main character seems intelligent but struggles without these things

I didn’t realize how short this book is bc i rented it on kindle and now im like 20% done

I was struggling to get thru the letters at first but it didn’t disappoint at all omg the reveal of the true relationship. I just feel like the writing is always well done idk im so impressed but maybe it’s bc I’ve been reading some terrible books

wait im a little confused and i wish i was reading this as part of a book club

this is the first time I’ve been ok w putting the book down
also im confused w the style text and im skipping it whoops

the writing is so clever it goes from serious and descriptive to amusing without changing
im crying at the minister who says the Bible takes place in NE

the storytelling is so good

i keep having to look words up but i loveeeeee i hope it stays good

im having so much fun reading this like the way its written even down to the spelling and grammar of the wording to reflect the time period is so cool idk i love it. this feels like when u know somethings going to be so good so ur just trying to savor it i literally want to read it out loud lol

okay im so excited for this and the description on the first page is so good im rlly hoping this is a good one

why is the violin my favorite character? also this romance is falling so flat

the part where they kinda hint on their shared trauma and it’s just written out for you falls flat.
