This collection of stories truly makes me homesick for another world because of how disgusting moshfegh portrays humanity and all its shortcomings. Reading this has me feeling like I am an alien observing a foreign species?

This is maybe the third short story referencing casual meth use. I knew people did meth obviously but it’s especially jarring reading about ordinary people using it?? Loving these gritty dark short stories.

Hilariously accurate.

I’m about halfway through the Malibu short story and geez this is gross. Moshfegh does a wonderful job at magnifying the unpleasant aspects of humanity most of us try to hide.
