I like that this book exists in such short, bite sized chapters. Makes it easy to read huge chunks at a time, and honestly feels as though it protects me from some of the emotional weight of it too

tragically I dont think I like this book very much, but I feel obligated to see it through at this point

Feeling like I'm being held at arms length from a lot of the social dynamics in this book. I want to be brought in more

the combination of present tense and lack of dialogue tags makes the reading experience feel a bit stilted and overwhelming, like everything is happening simultaneously, folded on top of itself.

Or maybe those are just two stylistic choices I tend to dislike. Most likely a bit of both.

checking out three library books that need to be returned by a specific date is actually a motivating factor that will get me to read. Who would've thought! This is number 2 of 3 :))

the main character has begun a development of empathy/awareness that I did not expect to occur in this book, and I find myself quite pleasantly surprised!

not to share too much but the unabashed eroticism and sexual availability of this book are really coming to me at a laissez faire, touch starved, casual intimacy time in my life. fittingly so!

consumption stands at the interception between the carnal pleasures of sex and gore

so what I'm saying is, with all this room for visceral metaphor, I sure hope there is cannibalism in this book
