Generally solid premise for short story decently delivered. The cuts to each character bit by bit and the descriptions are clear and vivid. The allegory feels a little here and there. Reading it either way, in nature being nature, then the rape feels unnecessary, but as an allegory for how experiencing those traumas feels all consuming, it's iffy but it can work.

Third short story. Possibly my favourite so far. The threat lies in many a folklore, and the ambiguous end makes a beautiful scene. It reads like the starting scene of a movie, the end a cut to black that near mimics the eyes of the beast before the rest begins, having set the brutal tone. Gorgeous.
