It reminds me of the Five People You Meet in Heaven, a fable-like story to answer question about life. While I enjoy the narration and the small details/description of the lives Nora experiences, at some point the cycle becomes too repetitive (try new life -> enjoys it -> something bad/unpleasanf happens -> dissappointed -> goes back to midnight library -> repeat)

The young-adult romance label initially made me hesitant about reading this. The ‘sisters caught in the middle of war’ trope is overused at this point. But the main deterrent for me was the mention of ‘imaginary friend’, which ironically turned out to be the most interesting part of the book.

So far I’m loving it, I predict this will be one of my favorite war-drama books besides the Book Thief
