Big interesting! Talking a lot about neural pathways and human evolutions predisposition for fear. Your brain remembers negative experiences with way more emphasis than positive ones! Apparently it takes many more positive experiences to outweigh one negative experience which is spooky dooky

One of my favorite questions the book poses is about political empowerment of the group. It asks if providing services as an outsider at some point placates a group and takes away their own political organizing power. I thought this was really interesting cause I’d never heard it put quite in these terms before.

She’s talking a lot about fostering senior dogs and it literally made me cry this part is so so sweet. I love the way she is interpreting lessons from the dogs too. She said something like ‘just because you have a lot of needs does not mean you don’t deserve so much compassion’
