This book is sort of terrible but I can’t stop reading?

The realization that you will, from that moment on, draw your breath from someone else’s lungs hits you harder when you aren’t prepared.

Whatever that pleasurable rush is that overwhelms us is – group madness or something else – nobody wants to ruin it by facing the fact that it comes with a cost.

You combine insecurity and ambition, and you get an inability to say no to things.

Something of real consequence was happening. We were at the start of a great renaissance of public shaming. After a lull of almost 180 years it was back in a big way. When we deployed shame, we were utilizing an immensely powerful tool. It was coercive, borderless, and increasing in speed and influence. Hierarchies were being leveled out. My magic truth - the thing that has changed everything for me - is this : the body I have shouldn’t change how deserving I am of my dreams. I stopped obsessing over my body being too round or too wide or too lumpy. Because I’m not too much of anything. I’m just enough. Even when I don’t feel like I am.

Had high hopes for this one but 2 chapters in there’s already been casual racism and making fun of the mom of the kid with allergies. Hard pass.

Oh my Lord the writing is so bad and the main character is such a sniveling hot mess. But I can’t stop reading AND I DON’T KNOW WHY

22 pages in and I'm not sure as a mother that I can make myself finish this book. Holy cow, these kids are 13. THIRTEEN. I don't consider myself a clueless or naïve person but I cannot believe the way they are talking and acting.

Ughhhh. I love Jane Green and a good beach read but I HATE books about affairs. They make me so angry!
