So excited that I’ve finally gotten around to reading this really popular book!

Some parts have resonated with me more than others but it is very beautifully written

Wow! Westover has such a gripping style of storytelling. My jaw was open the whole time reading this.

Now that I’m halfway, I’m not gonna lie, I have mixed feelings so far. The book has beautiful prose and I think it accurately captures Elio’s “older than he seems” personality while showing his emotional immaturity with how he processes these big feelings of “desire”. However, with some of the events that happen, the ages make me uncomfortable.

Part 1 update:

I thought Elio was down bad before but the last three pages proved me wrong 💀

The prose is very flowery and on the other hand subject matter honestly feels quite simple to me at the moment.

I do feel that Aciman accurately captures the feelings and thoughts of a 17 year old boy experiencing a true crush for the first time.

Some of the language in here is diabolical 💀
