RIVETING I love hearing about cool women from history I otherwise never would have heard of

Fucking love Janina Ramierez so much. This book is gripping, so fascinating. She writes in a way that is so in-depth without being boring or inaccessible. Also a GREAT reader, she could make the shipping forecast exciting.

FUCK I’m so fucking INTO IT. Reading this book knowing what’s going happen gives it such a level of ante, I literally can’t stop reading, many moments where I’m proverbially ‘screaming at the screen’. It’s also horrible getting attached to characters knowing how it all ends, but in a good way. So many genius callbacks to THG, Suzanne Collins I love you.

I would like if we could hurry up and get into the games now, but otherwise I’m still SO into it. President Snow stacks up with the Snow later on in the series, and it’s fascinating to stack up Haymitch and the choices he makes now with the choices he makes and the person he is later on. The District 3 element is SO interesting, if tragic.

GOD I’m so into this, it’s not often a book makes me feel second hand embarrassment/panic but this one did, I was ‘reading through my fingers’ as it were. It’s SO interesting to see how the Capitol treats its tributes here in comparison to Katie’s et al in later books, and I wonder if it is a result of the events of this book. Also MAGS!! ALREADY BEING AN ICON!!!

Already so into this, had low expectations after TBOSAS was such a snoozefest but this is already much more pacy and the characters far more interesting. I especially like the callbacks (forwards?) to later characters and families in THG and how they are linked, it’s always nice to know an author actually knows and cares about their own continuity.

She went to Jerusalem and also Rome. It’s less unhinged and more linear now, she still cries and screams when she takes communion but who doesn’t.

Please can she hurry up and go to Jerusalem

Current audible listen. Rambly as hell but a fascinating insight into medieval life, creates a strong image and is very descriptive of people and conversations.

Historical non-fiction and fiction in my veins please, almost entirely about women/AFAB people where possible <3
