It seems like her recent interaction with Colton is really all she needed to start moving on… she started looking at the new sunflower as a sign from Trent to move on and she already seems.. happier? I guess? more sure of herself? Idk but she seems different in a good way

I’m in shock. THE SUNFLOWER. She’s taking it as a sign???? YESSS PLEASE! Start of the chapter said something about how the heart’s electromagnetic energy transfers between people when touching or standing close.. literal scientific proof of sparks flying. This is a random read, one I’ve never heard of and it makes me do that dramatic fake scream thing. It’s that good.. it’s that intense.

It seems Quinn’s parents are really protective and supportive but are getting impatient with her healing. I honestly don’t blame them… it’s only been a year since but I feel like that’s enough time to not be locked up feeling down every waking hour

Colton referring to Quinn as a friend immediately is so cute. The end of their interactions this chapter was really sad honestly. The one doctor telling her to be careful with his heart is a little overwhelming ;( Also it’s like you can feel is smile through the pages.

She feels less alone immediately after she lefts him drive. That’s about all I’ve got for this chapter tbh

The quote for this chapter was from an article saying that organ recipients sometimes feel like they know people that the organ donor knew. I found that VERY interesting. So far the book is really well written but the chapters are SOO short. Anyway, this Colton guy still seems nice but also sort of awkward or atleast anxious?? Idrk. Also she just got in a small car wreck??

A little predictable so far, but cute. Quinn is a very anxious person. She makes a very interesting inquiry about how she could’ve passed Colton at any point in time and not realized it. Chris seems like a very random character… he’s nice though so I’m not mad. Colton also seems nice but I’m not entirely sure yet. (We just met him)

Coryo was just jealous of Lucy Gray at the beginning of this. Coryo is getting really confusing, he’s already begun changing from his once perfect self. He also admitted that he has feelings for her. This also cleared up why Tigris ate raw meat in Mockingjay. The rose compact that he gave Lucy Gray… it’s so sad. He’s officially losing his mother and is half convinced he’s losing the love of his life.

So far this book is formatted in a slightly new way, with quotes before the start of each chapter. The first chapter was short so there isn’t much to say. Quinn is still REALLY attached to Trent but he did only pass 400 days ago. She’s still healing and is confused why the heart recipient hasn’t reached out.

Lucy mentioned the mockingbird to Coryo!!! AHHHHH. Also the end of the chapter “he really felt jealous” oh boy I think I get it. Snow is the way he is out of sheer jealousy though he’s mostly good at controlling it. This twisted story. I CANTT

Everything Josh did (since the merger) he did for her. THE SHIRTS! THE SHIRTS WERE FOR HER! I can relate to Lucy on an uncomfortable level, I never know what to do once I understand it’s romantic. I have deep freak outs. Anyway… this book was soooo YUMM I read the last like 5 chapters in one sitting. Love love loved it, they’re both hot, perfect, deep thinking, incredibly smart people. (I may be a tad jealous)

Coryo is making it painfully obvious how torturous his world is. Also the shift in his dynamic with Lucy Gray is miserable. They were so good before. I remember things being so great for Coryo at the beginning of the movie and then becoming horrible, but turns out things had always been bad they just keep getting worse.

Still don’t understand his beef with Sejanus. He talked himself out of rebel thinking by simply telling himself he sounded like Sejanus. The funeral procession of the tributes was HORRIBLE (don’t think it was included in the movie 🙏) Also at the end of the chapter he says he feels a buzz when Lucy and him hold hands ;) and he’s accepted their interactions as flirting!!

There’s something truly powerful about Coryo pouring his heart to Lucy Gray (the only person he felt he could talk to btw) about how he should’ve sided with Sejanus. It’s also really beautiful how he sees Lucy Gray and tells her that she’s important to him (he would’ve second guessed it if it were anyone else). Also Coryo realized he can’t trust his government and how truly scary that is.

Usually I have an issue with Lucy’s whole “only commenting on his body” thing, but I think it may have truly registered this time. I’m not 100% sure yet. Or maybe she knows it’s different when she does it? They are behaving like a real couple right about now.

(I read on the pdf. so the pages weren’t accurate; I have no idea where I left off page # wise) Coryo seemed to be fine with the death of Arachne and her tribute so long as his image was preserved. Also it’s disheartening how he can’t tell that Dr.Gaul favors him quite a bit because he’s genius even when indifferent towards the games. His indifference is also the same reason Highbottom despises him.

Casca (Highbottom) created the games he hates. Coryo is driven by knowledge not emotion. People say Katniss reminded snow of Sejanus but I think it was Lucy (her braid, her stage presence and wow factor, her ability to not side with the capitol or the districts, her voice) Snow is making new rules to help Lucy. Arachne teased her tribute into stabbing her through the bars at the zoo… yikes

Snow seems to severely miss-judge people for their image. Sejanus; feels a deep personal connection to the game and its tributes but appears to be trying to stay on top. Highbottom; hates the games but seems to hate Snow. Snow is still a good kid. Keeping his promise to Lucy-Gray, heavily morning his mother and sister (what?), and displaying a little bit of trust, hope, and affection

Dean Highbottom wants to end the games. I forgot that bit from the movie but ITS SO TWISTED. I won’t get into it since we haven’t gotten there yet but, Coryo and Highbottom could’ve been great together. Also the instant chemistry between Lucy Gray and Coryo is chefs kiss. “A failed experiment” is what Highbottom called the games and Coryo didn’t pick up on it.

Coryo. He’s just so MMM. He’s so smart and seems to have his head screwed on straight. But it’s clear already in the 2nd chapter that Lucy Gray has a VERY strong impact on him and the way he thinks. It’s also apparent that a life as a peacekeeper would absolutely RUIN him.

So like… are they ever gonna do it… or just keep teasing me??? (I’ve seen the movie) it’s soon… right?? Actually though, these two are so cute and Josh is like the most perfect man ever but they’re both BIG flirts.

Snow seems like such a decent guy right now. I will never understand is beef with Sejanus though tbh. Snow genuinely seems to have morals, especially at the very beginning he says it breaks his heart to think about Tigris selling herself.

The tension is just scrumptious. However Lucy just decided that she’s back into war with Josh. BOOO bad timing. He’s so perfect though honestly. Thoughts on Lucy however: she’s confusing and confused. (I can relate)

I’ve read the books so I knew what all would happen. I wasn’t expecting to still feel such despair from all of Katniss’s horrors. The only thing I wish is that they would’ve worked harder to describe Peeta and Katniss’s struggle to come back together instead of mentioning it briefly but I suppose that’s Katniss for you. Overall the book is GUT WRENCHING but also painstakingly beautiful. Suzanne Collins <3
