It's an interesting book, and there's a "funny" coincidence (though there's nothing funny about it): they talk about voting for Keiko Fujimori, now the first woman ever elected president of Peru and the daughter of the country's former authoritarian ruler.

I find the book especially timely, because just yesterday we elected Lula to a fourth term, leaving no room for our “tupiniquim” version of a Fujimori.

Haven’t had any deep thoughts yet… Maybe still understanding the ideas?

Less and less worried with the anti-muslim vibe, getting to know Alma better made me give her the benefit of the doubt.

I may be getting it all wrong, but there’s a feeling that maybe Briony and Cecilia are in some sort of romantic love with their brother? As in strange affections, not only siblingly love.

So far, easy to read, interesting plot.

I’m still a little uncomfortable because I feel a vibe of islamophobia from Alma, even thought I get what she means.

Maybe that’s the author’s goal? To make us FEEL the discomfort of the processes the characters face?

how can a book be SO DIFFERENT from it’s own musical adaptation? schwartz come back here and explain yourself rn please

so far it’s been interestint, i like how the author writes, but i’m not so sure i’m at the right personal moment for this kind of deeply sad literature

still can’t believe Stephen Schwartz really thought the musical and/or the movie were based on the book

not even the name of all of the charachters is the same! set aside their role in the story…

Escrita difícil, leitura menos fluida que esperava, mas a perspectiva da história é muito interessante.

Trouxe uma ideia de que Deus é tanto mais Deus quanto mais inacessível for, prendeu muito!

Escrita muito interessante! Personagens são bastante envolventes e o cenário para que a escrita te leva é sempre algo mágico, com aromas, compreensão.
