I love how Cardan is in Jude’s command. Although as Madoc says, Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold on to. Which is why I’m concerned about this “agreement” that Jude and Cardan have settled on. I’m not totally on board with Taryn being forgiven so easily but I guess Jude just needs her mirror that she could never be, as she’s exhausting herself everyday being the High King’s seneschal.

She lied. She made Oak practice giving the crown to him. Cardan, the one she despises most, yet is afraid she’ll be “consumed by the hungry and humiliating urgency” that she felt the first time she kissed him. Who knows how he will repay her after such kindness she has demonstrated tonight?

“Most of all, I hate you because I think of you. Often. It’s disgusting, and I can’t stop.” ~ Cardan
“You really do want me, and you hate it”. ~ Jude
“Have I told you how hideous you look tonight?”
“No, tell me.” “I cannot.”
They finally kissed and he tries to stop himself for wanting that. They both have a devouring desperation and desire for each other.

Discovering about the truths of Cardan and his friends is riveting. I love that Jude told him about what happened with Valerian.

As his anger shifts towards Valerian instead of Jude upon seeing the bruises he wants to run his fingers over.

“You are terrifying. Nearly my whole family is dead, and while they never had much love for me, I don’t want to join them. I’ve spent all night worrying what you’re going to do, and I know exactly what I deserve. I have a reason to be nervous.” ~ Cardan
Completely true. Taryn geez you traitor, you’re lucky Jude didn’t slice you in half…

Oh. My. God. What just happened?! In a matter of pages practically all of Cardan’s brothers and sisters just died. And finallyyy Cardan is Jude’s prisoner 🤭 I feel so bad for Princess Rhyia since she was Vivi’s only friend in Faerie. And geez yeah Dain was cruel but Madoc??? Traitor!

Oh my god. Jude just killed Valerian. I never thought she would actually kill him like she said, “If I cannot be better than them, I will become so much worse.” She thinks of this as she drives the blade through his heart. And noooo Sophieeee. Jude is not okay…. at least she knows that

Gosh she can’t even look at Cardan now without blushing, not after seeing those two girls all over him.

Amazinggg I honestly love her relationship with Locke so far, he’s not like the others. And what Jude has found out about Cardan is definitely a troubled past. Poor Jude though, being almost killed and all. I’m glad she’s practicing Mithridatism.

“You remind me that I am a mere mortal and you are a prince of Faerie. Well, let me remind you that means you have much to lose and I have nothing. You may win in the end, you may ensorcell Mr and hurt me and humiliate me, but I will make sure you lose everything I can take from you on the way down. I promise you this,” I throw his words back at him “this is the least of what I can do.”

Wow, yeah maybe the mortal world is not fit for Jude, anymore at least. But I lovedd their day out in the mall!

Gosh, Jude was really tortured while growing up in Faerie even after everything that had already happened, plus having to bow down and withhold her anger boiling from within. She is a strong mortal.

Oo I loveee Jude, how still wants to beat them although she yearns to be as beautiful as them but never their equal

What a brutal start with the prologue, even making me tear up a little. I really think I’m gonna like this book though. Already loving the plot and how Jude is a mortal in a world of Faeries.

I’m actually liking it. Mara is quite interesting and I really like to listen Blair and Lenny bicker as does she. It’s nice to see that sane side of Kitt with Mara ❤️‍🩹
