This is the ninth book in the ‘Eddie Flynn’ series apparently although it is the first I have read. I think some of the characters are probably well established to readers of the other books, but he still explains who they are so I don’t feel like I am missing information from past books. It’s a gripping start and looking forward to the rest of the book at this point.

Not a bad read. I found it more laborious to get into than the previous Private novels I’ve read before and it’s a continuation of a theme, primarily the same antagonist, not a sequel, it works as a standalone read.
That said, I came off the back of a really good read straight into this one so it had big shoes to fill.

So far, this is a generic Private story. Only just started this one, I’m about 16 chapters in (which of course is not many for a JP novel) but I’m not gripped by it so far. It’s like reading a mediocre action movie. It could be that I’ve read a number of the Private novels so far, maybe there is nothing new in the stories to pursue. We’ll see how it goes.

Stuck to being a normal murder mystery until the end so not typically SK I think.
That said, as a murder mystery it was really good. He brings both parallel stories nicely together at the end.
Would I recommend? For fans of a good murder mystery I would, yes.

It’s a good read, the story moves along nicely and doesn’t leave too big gaps between the double narrative of Holly/Izzy.
That said, it still doesn’t strike me as typical SK, it’s a typical, good, but typical murder mystery thriller. Don’t know if anything strange or eerie is coming, there is no indication of that as yet but still got more than Han 100 pages to go.

Good so far, reads more like a mystery thriller than usual SK but not even a quarter way in yet.

Not started yet but one observation. In the paperback version at least, can’t comment on the hardcover, the writing is very small and if you wear reading glasses you may struggle with this.

Pretty good so far. I mentioned earlier that there was a pretty outlandish assumption similar to those made in Strange Houses, thankfully this has not continued.
The book is primarily in four main chapters and I’ve just finished two. It reads initially as there own separate short stories, although leaves questions unanswered but then it has connected to the first chapter towards the end of the second…
