It’s ok. Kind of a slog so far. Not super well written, but still provides more depth than the movie

Took a break for a while, but just got back to Dune. It’s… strange. I really like some parts, the spice mining rescue was great, I like a lot of the politics, but I’m not a huge fan of the philosophical stuff, and I feel like I’m not high enough to understand what’s going on with Paul. Still enjoying it though.

I’m glad the Reen twist wasn’t real. I’m super worried about Spook now. Is he going to gain the throne then be puppeted by Ruin?

Still good, but I’m not sure how I feel about Reen being alive. Feels very soap opera-ish. I like the reveal about the Koloss. It’s very tragic, especially the fact that they continue to try to “become humans”. I’m worried about Spook, I think Ruin is going to try to turn him into an Inquisitor.

Still great! I’m loving learning the little bits about Preservation and Ruin. Like Elend, I am beginning to understand Rashek more. I feel bad for Sazed, but I am also wondering if there is another power at play that is pushing on his emotions and keeping him depressed. TenSoon’s story is still my favorite. I hope he meets back up with Vin now that he has escaped. It seems the Kandra know a lot more about Ruin.

Great so far! I think this is my favorite of the trilogy, at least as much as I’ve read. I’m fascinated by the culture of the Kandra, it’s probably the most unique concept I’ve seen in a fantasy story. I think Spook is actually hearing Ruin when he thinks he’s hearing Kelsie’s, much like Zane was hearing “God” and like the Inquisitors are controlled by Ruin. Hemalurgy seems to be under his power.

Getting better by the page. I’m sad that Sazed only has really short chapters, but I assume his part of the narrative will continue to increase. I don’t like how Vin treats OreSeur, I think it’s unfair. This government needs some parliamentary procedure right now.

Pretty good so far. I had seen the movie previously, which makes the Harkonnen conspiracy much more mysterious and in the shadows, so I was very surprised how the book just came out and gave us a chapter with the Harkonnen's talking specifically about what they were going to do.

The Bene Gesserit seem much more interesting in the book than I remember them being in the movies, as well as the spacing guild.

Still good. I liked the small chapter with Sazed. I hope that he won’t be away for the whole book. I’d also love to learn more about Kandra

So far so good! It’s a little bit tedious going through the explanations of Allomancy again, but I understand why.
