Putting this down for today im just not into books today

Ok im setting this down for now because I won't lie theres a lot of dates and rulings being thrown at me and it's hard to follow along as I work
I feel like if I sat down and read this book it might be different

Ooooo this is going to be a good one the author has such a strong voice already

It's decades long transformation from ethical to evil mirrors the slow motion metamorphosis of the American healthcare system from best to worst
Fucking banger of a book

I also think he organized it in a way that highlights their neglect as with each case their justifications get weaker and weaker

I really like the way this book is set up. Each section covers a different disaster j and j created
I think it would have been much more difficult to follow if they had tried to make it totally linear

Hell of an intro im excited for this

I've been enjoying it so far but ive had to space things out because it does get repetitive after a while but that is history sometimes

It's a really good comparison to bring in the heavens gate website with social media cults

Throughout the whole book the author has been kind of saying im too smart to be a a part of a cult im too good at pattern recognition etc etc but does seem to be roped into cult fitness and I think it's important that she shows ANYONE can be pulled in

Ok so started the section on cult fitness and it is actually so on the nose it's incredible

Ok I'll admit i don't know jack about amway so this is good to know

Damn the sheer amount of "more on that later" is starting to get to me

just gotten through Jim jones and heavens gate and starting to get into the metaphysical and spiritual section
This is definitely a more casually/conversationally written book than scholarly which I think appeals to a younger audience
It has been pretty focused on linguistics so far but it is combined with a bit of history on each cult which is good b/c as a young person im not as familiar with them

Fantastic this author just has such joy about learning new cultures and meeting new people
