One of my favorites

Distinctly cinematographic feel
A nice blend of cosmic and petite horror
The nightmares of the gestalt blending comfortably with the fantastical horrors of cutters imagination.
I say with love: this is a “book ass book”- akin to stardust (2007) not remotely in subject or tone but insofar as it feels like a paragon of its type of storytelling-

I began reading the troop as my reintroduction to recreational reading after a several month long hiatus spent binging the x-files. Anyway- the book is neat, it’s gross, gory, and the mixed media interludes help flesh out the characters and the world. The strongest moments in the book are a few grounded scenes focused on animals dying unnecessarily- and the loss of childhood innocence that comes from that.
