Not really impressed with Declan. He is gutless, he reminds me of Ross from Friends, he was the worst character from that show. And for Ginny, I just feel bad for her. Not bc of everything she went thru, but bc she’s such a people pleaser that I feel like she’s being taken advantage of. There’ve been several opportunities for him to stand up for her, & he doesn’t. Like I said, gutless!

Why is it so hard for blurbs to be accurate?

First off, she didn’t get ‘locked out’, they literally destroyed her tower leaving her no other option but to go w/ them. She also chose to go w/ them rather quickly, so let’s not call that reluctance.

ALSO, frustrated b/c she seems meek & VERY damsel like. Where’s her anger at them for destroying her home or ire at becoming a queen?

Gah, Athena just plain ole sucks! She’s already admitted to herself she hasn’t exactly missed Johnny, but is upset about the breakup. If she self reflected for 5 minutes, she’d realize she was using him and would INDEED be an inappropriate partner for him. And Athena, babe - all that security you wanted from J was gonna come from M anyway, so maybe chill the F out on the M hate train!!?

l-o-l.. why doesn’t Riordan just command Leo to tell him what’s going on? What was the point of Honey running away from him?

Probably going to be a DNF for me.. Chemistry, where? They have very few and minimal ‘moments’ at work and by the end he has his phone out and ignores her. Gross.

They’ve only ‘hung out’ ONCE outside of work thus far. There’s minimal dialogue between them & I feel nothing for them as a couple.

So frustrating, 61% in and she still doesn’t believe she’s a witch, no movement from her on the Maddock front, no addressing of how she’s not really a part of the pack - her sister is. Sage needs a life of her own outside of her sister, so frustrating that she’s her only focus, like enough of that! Grow as a person, Sage, get your head out of your ass!

If Sara didn’t find him so active what one redeeming quality does he have? Ooo, he made her a sandwich, better lust after him.. like, wth is this book?

Oh & Sybil kind of sucks? She’s a one hell of a jealous ‘friend’ if I ever saw one.

The murder jokes need to stop. Maybe the first 2 were fine, but I think there’s at least 30+ mentions of murder/killing/homicide and that’s 30+ too many. It reads as kind of immature and WTF.

I’m really struggling w/ the plot.

I’d fight my actual blood for my niblings if something happened to my sister, let alone her landlord. I’d hire every attorney on the face of this earth, read every law book myself - I would never yield.

IF I were Rhys I’d recognize that Milo is better off being w/ FAMILY & everything that comes w/ that. Realize I was lied to by E & Id bow the F out, sign over my rights.

So much back and forth of perspectives and timelines. Not usually a fan of this type of writing & it's getting a little convoluted to follow listening to it. If this was a movie, you'd have to pause for bathroom breaks for fear of missing something that might prove crucial.

Outside of some, yes aggressive, arguing I’m not sure why her dad is worth killing. When he was taken away, she didn’t want him to go..?

It feels her & her mom had the bad relationship, like manipulative & just vibes seem off with her.

I can’t make as many comments here within the allotted character limit so I’ll just finish with..

In all seriousness, please take your mental health seriously.

Hester… wow. She’s insufferable, 40 years old and still blames her father for who she is as a person, refuses and unabashedly hates therapy. Like girl, you need therapy!! This is the kind of character that I probably won’t care too much what happens to her because I can’t invest, for lack of a better word, my empathy into someone who well, wants to kill her father then herself.

I feel unnecessarily stressed about them openly talking and texting about their fake relationship.. like girl, shut up! I can just see Alex finding out this way.

Lordy, the author clearly thinks all women are hysterical and or unhappy with their lives and therefore should be medicated. Also has random spurts of racism throughout.

Must say, this is an instance where the movie is far better than the book.

I’m now trudging to get thru. This story isn’t holding my attention.

I’m not into the relationship. Can’t see it. I love romances for the build up. These people have spent probably a few hours total in each other’s presence and poof, that’s it, the physical stuff is already there. Giving way too lust v romance. Also, I’m not a huge fan of stories within a story. Can’t keep all these damn names / story lines straight.
