Finished Part I, and I’m fascinated by what Dostoevsky is doing here.

I love how he explores poverty, desperation, isolation, and crime. The journey from poverty to crime feels like a gradual psychological descent.

Raskolnikov’s moral dilemma stands out most. Dostoevsky seems less interested in the crime itself than in the mind of the person who commits it—and the arguments they use to justify it.
